ABOUT THE SPRING MARKET
Biodiversity is important for economic activities, as businesses rely heavily on nature for resources and climate regulation. However, biodiversity is declining, and many business practices contribute directly or indirectly to it. As a result, companies are increasingly exposed to risks affecting supply chains, running costs and long-term viability. At the same time, there is growing recognition that protecting and restoring biodiversity creates opportunities for innovation and resilience. Strengthening collaboration between research and business stakeholders is a role the Belgian Biodiversity Platform is willing to further investigate, based on its experience in connecting research, policy and practice.
To initiate this process, the Belgian Biodiversity Platform decided to dedicate the 2026 Biodiversity Spring Market to Business & Biodiversity.
PROGRAMME
The event started in the morning with a series of presentations on Business and Biodiversity, featuring contributions from a variety of stakeholders.
These were followed in the afternoon by a lively Marketplace where standholders had the opportunity to present their projects or organisations and engage with other participants.
