INTRODUCTION

Non-communicable diseases (NCD) such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes are the leading causes of death and disability in the human population worldwide. NCD also significantly impact animal health and welfare. Environmental factors linked with NCD include pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss and the transformation of the food system.

On 26-27 January 2027, the Belgian One Health network (BeOH) is organising an event in Brussels on Ecosystem health & NCD prevention.

This is an in-person event, jointly organised by Sciensano, the Belgian Biodiversity Platform, and the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment. The working language will be English.

The event will include expert presentations and a poster session, followed by break-out groups and a panel discussion.

It is aimed at experts and stakeholders interested in intersectoral cooperation, but also reaches out to administrators and policy makers, e.g. working on health, environment, agriculture, urban planning, research funding,...

For more details, see the concept note.
