Data portal with free access to data on distribution of marine species in European seas.
EMODNET BIOLOGY
The EMODnet Biology data portal provides free access to data on temporal and spatial distribution of marine species and species traits from all European regional seas.
It is part of the EU-funded European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) and uses the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) and the European Ocean Biogeographic Information System (EurOBIS) as background systems.
In addition, VLIZ is hosting and supporting the EMODnet Secretariat, as well as the EMODnet Central Portal, which allows users to access data products from each of the EMODnet consortia under one single interface (there are six portals conveying marine data on Bathymetry, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Human Activities, Physics, and Seabed Habitats).
The EMODnet biology infrastructure is supported by and building on components and tools within Lifewatch-ERIC and Lifewatch Marine.
