Sustainable Wildlife Trade Policy Briefs

We are pleased to announce the publication of three new policy briefs by the Belgian Biodiversity Platform.

These policy briefs are the result of a collaborative work carried out under the initiative of the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment (Belgium) within the framework of the ‘One Health’ initiative on the trade in exotic animal species. Its content is based on the background documents, the panel discussions, and the keynote presentations from the ‘Towards a sustainable wildlife trade’ conference organised in Brussels on 3 and 4 December 2019.

Available for download:

They each present the current state of knowledge in the field across a variety of disciplines and highlight key recommendations emanating from the conference. In addition, a series of actions are also proposed in appendixes, as well as a glossary of the main concepts associated.

We encourage all stakeholders to disseminate these policy briefs within their respective organisations and relevant disciplines.
