The Belgian Biodiversity Platform is organizing a
Data Cleaning Workshop on July 5-6.
The workshop is specifically intended for biodiversity researchers working in Belgium,
who would like to improve the quality of their database content.
Dr Arthur Chapman, who’s a recognised authority in the field of data quality and data validation, will manage this two days workshop. Dr Chapman is author of GBIF documents on topics to be covered during the workshop:
- Uses of Primary Species-Occurrence Data
- Principles of Data Quality
- Principles and Methods of Data Cleaning
All these documents, and the BioGeomancer Guide to Georeferencing can be downloaded from the GBIF website, under Data Quality, Data Cleaning and Data Use .
The presentations and training sessions will be conducted in english.
Similar workshops will be held in:
- Paris on July 1-2
- Amsterdam on July 8-9
Venue for the workshop will be Salle Solvay (see access map ) , ULB, Campus de la Paine, Bâtiment NO, 5th Floor, Bld du Triomphe/Triomflaan, B-1050 Brussels
The number of participants is limited, therefore we request interested researchers to register as soon as possible, deadline is June 15.
Registration fee (€ 20,00, to be paid to account nr 210-0429400-33 (ULB, B-1050 Brussels), clearly mentioning your name and “Data Cleaning Workshop FG0294CR1074”) will cover lunches and coffee breaks.
Participants are requested to bring their own datasets and portable computer; wireless internet access will be available.
