In anticipation of the upcoming European Ecosystem Assessment, it is considered opportune to assemble all the concerned experts and interested parties in this field.

The objectives of this conference are to identify:

• Available expertise in the area of ecosystem services assessment in Belgium.
• Knowledge gaps that need to be addressed, before the proposed Belgian assessment can be conducted.
• A general strategy to assess ecosystem services in Belgium.
• Ways to make ecosystem service assessments valuable for decision-making.
• Required means and resources to achieve the above.

The conference will take place at the Royal Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters of Belgium, Prigogine room,
at the Academy House rue Ducale/Hertogsstraat 1, B-1000 Brussels on October 22, 2008.
